This Kid Went Beauty Shopping #2

Yesterday morning I had an appointment in the city and after that I decided to go to the MAC Cosmetics counter for an extra pair of 217 and 239 brushes. When I passed the Yves Rocher store I remembered a review I read on a popular Dutch beauty blog called Beautylab. Two new products from Yves Rocher were reviewed and I was curious to try them myself. I haven't tried them yet, so when I have I will write a blog post on how I got on.

1. Rinsing Vinegar €9,90
This vinegar is supposed to add shine to the hair. I'm a natural blonde and my hair looks (and is) healthy but it can use a little extra shine. I've heard some positive stories of people who rinse their hair with regular vinegar. As I can't stand the scent of regular vinegar and this one has a mild raspberry scent, this one seems right up my alley. As the instructions aren't very clear on the bottle, I asked the girl in the store how I should use it. She said:
Wash and condition your hair like you normally would. Then take as much as a teaspoon and divide that over your scalp and hair. Be careful, because it is a vinegar and therefore quite a thin substance, so don't just tip it upside down. The review on Beautylab also said that it got rid of some of the dandruff. I'm excited to try this stuff out the next time I wash my hair.


2. Hair Repair Oil €9,90
 This hair repair oil adds strength and moisture. I suffer from a mild form of seborrheic dermatitis (which also creates dandruff) and in addition to my regular shampoo and conditioner I use a prescribed shampoo with ketoconazole. My special shampoo is bright pink and although it looks really nice, it is quite aggressive. I've been using the ketoconazole for almost 10 years and it has made my scalp is less itchy but it does feel very dry and dehydrated. I hope this will lessen that and I can't wait to have strong and shiny locks. The girl in the store also gave me the tip to use it as a mask: Add the product to the hair, cover your head with a plastic bag and then a towel. Let it sit for an hour or so and then rinse it out.  


Both of the products are paraben and silicone free. The hair repair oil is also free of colourants. The colourants that are in the rinsing vinegar dissolve in water.

3. Jardin Du Monde Pink Grapefruit.

While I was in the store my eye caught the Jardins du Monde shower gel in Pink Grapefruit. I am a complete sucker for anything that has grapefruit. I love the taste, the scent and I even love the colour of them. Because of the current promotion, this 200ml bottle was on offer for €1,95 instead of €3.-

4. Rimmel Match Perfection 100 Ivory.
Then, as I (tried to) continue my journey to the MAC Cosmetics counter my eye caught the sign of a drugstore and I couldn't resist it. So I went in and I have no idea how it happend (..I'm kidding. I know exactly how it happend) but I left the store with a small bag containing the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in the shade 100 Ivory. I have heard such good reviews about this foundation and I like the concealer that's in the same line. The foundation does have a heavy scent, stronger than my Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation. I don't know if I can get used to it, but I will update you on that when I have tried it a few times.



5. MAC Cosmetics 217 and 239 brushes.
And finally I went to the MAC Cosmetics counter to buy the two eyeshadow brushes I went into town for in the first place.

In my opinion these two brushes are a must have for anyone into make up. I understand that MAC is a bit pricey but their brushes are worth the investment. They will last you years and years if you take good care of them. The 217 is oficially a blending brush (correct me if I'm wrong here guys) made of goat hair,  but it is also great for applying colour to the lids. It ends in a soft point, which makes blending shadows in the crease very easy. You may not think of it right away, but it's also great for undereye concealer.

The 239 is an excellent basic eyeshadow brush. Great for packing colour on the lid or to the lower lash line (and smudge it a little). This brush is also made of goat hair and is nice and firm yet soft. In my opinion it works best with powder eyeshadows.

With the 217 and 239 together you will have a little dream team ;)

Here's a comment I read about the 217 brush on makeupalley.com that made me chuckle:
''It blends! It shades! It applies concealer! It does powder or cream shadow! It brings you coffee in the morning and washes your car at night! All true except for the last part, of course. ''
